Feeling nostalgic, with the Wastelands (SLURL) turning three! To quote: “The Wastelands is Second Life’s oldest and largest residential Post Apocalyptic community. The Wastelands was the very first Post Apocalyptic sim to land on the grid, it opened up on 01-19-07.” I love the Wastelands and even lived there for awhile!

Roslin Petion kindly sent me her latest release Brooke. I’ve long been a fan of Roslin’s soft skins and dramatic makeup – even when 5th & Oxford (SLURL) was under a different name. (For the curious, they began as Tete a Pied, and were then known as Fleur before becoming 5th & Oxford!) While I usually prefer a slightly more youthful look, Brooke is by no means a dour old lady. With a fresh complexion and glowing highlights on the face and body, Brooke gives any avatar a lovely, confident attitude. I was quite pleased with details like the perfect belly button and carefully formed toes. The butt is also well-shaded!
Of course, I love freckles. As with nearly all of Roslin’s previous skins, though, I am left slightly disappointed in that area. While some skin creators offer freckles as an option with all makeup choices, 5th & Oxford only have a handful of freckled skins per series. Brooke has a total of 30 makeup options, but only six of these are freckled – they’re all pictured above. The freckles are quite nice, realistic and well-placed, but they are only on the face – I’d love at least a smattering of freckles across the arms and legs.
On the plus side, all of the freckled makeups are perfect for redheads. The modifiable eyebrows and low price of L$600 each make this skin a versatile, inexpensive addition to any skinaholics collection!

I received a very lovely package today from Posy Trudeau. On January 23rd, Posy is having a grand opening for her new store Homespun (SLURL). The package, a sturdy little suitcase, contained pieces from Posy’s new collection, including this adorable day dress and sweater.
Posy also packed a white buttondown shirt, unisex jeans, and suspenders. The suspenders, being fully prim, took a bit of careful editing, but they’re worth it! I love both styles and am excited to see what else Homespun has in store for us!

There are a lot of events this weekend, with much of the proceeds going to the Red Cross – if you’re interested in donating, check out the Haiti fundraiser hosted on the Scribble sim. Some participants in this week’s Fifty Linden Friday have also put out special red donation items. One of my favorite pose creators, Willa Whybrow, of Waffle and DFO!, has set all vendors in her stores to split proceeds, donating 50% to the Red Cross. I took the opportunity to buy some of her new pose sets!
By the way, I really love my tutu. <3
